The EU-funded project ”Civic monitoring of the police reform in the Republic of Moldova”, implemented by Promo-LEX, announces the launch of the 2nd Call for proposals regarding Grants Competition for projects aimed at monitoring the implementation of the police reform in the Republic of Moldova, especially at local or regional level, and informing the public about it.
The project “Civic Monitoring of Police Reform in the Republic of Moldova” highlights the role of civic oversight by non-governmental organisations during the implementation of reforms, as well as the right of citizens to participate in the decision-making process. The overall objective of the project is to consolidate the responsibility, efficiency and transparency of the police reform in the Republic of Moldova.
Purpose and objectives of the Grants Competition:
The Grants Competition aims to support projects of civil society organisations and media institutions aimed at monitoring the implementation, especially at local and regional level, of the police reform and informing the public about it.
Specific objectives:
- promoting the concept of Community Policing in the Republic of Moldova;
- promoting the transparency of public procurements within the Police Inspectorates and other subdivisions of the Police;
- informing and educating the society about the impact of corruption on the activity of the police, the issue of trafficking of human beings, violence, including gender-based violence, drug use and trafficking etc.;
- support in implementing the Police Development Strategy (for example: developing the rapid response capabilities of Police response teams to emergency calls, promoting recruitment within the Police, informing and educating society about the risks and trends of local / regional crime, etc.);
- raising awareness of the society on the importance of ensuring the gender dimension in the activity of the Police.
